| River Center Summary: John Vetter unveiled his plan for the Younkers site at the RDA meeting on October 11. The plan calls for a building complex centered around public amenities including a town square, children's museum, indoor winter garden, a 5 screen cinema, and a splash park. Additionally, the plan calls for a hotel, retail, parking, and a significant residential portion. The 14 story residential tower would be aimed at the lower end of the price range to accommodate a high demand for less expensive condos, a demand that Riverfront Lofts and Astor Place do not fill. There may also be an apartment component to the residential section. Value for the plan is between $56 and $67 million, and would be eligible for TIF funding in the neighborhood of $10 - $11 million. As it stands now, funding will be a challenge for the project, and some negotiations will need to take place to make financing comfortable for both the developer and the city. For More Information:
